Personal Injury

What do I do if I was involved in an accident?

First, obtain the medical care and treatment that you need.  Your first priority is your health and well being.  Second, obtain the advise of counsel.  Insurance companies and investigators often seek to obtain recorded statements and other evidence that may be used against you later.  Third, document the case.  Evidence needs to be secured, photographs taken, and witnesses contacted and information obtained quickly.  We have a team of experienced professionals to perform all of these tasks.

When you are injured, you need all the help you can get.  Our law firm will work with you to provide the best representation available.  Our first priority is you and your case.  We have a tremendous amount of experience in handling injury cases, settling cases with insurance companies or bringing case to court if an excellent settlement cannot be reached.  We will keep you informed every step of the way so that you will know what is going on with your case at all times.   We have a long history of obtaining superb settlements or going to court and winning verdicts in front of juries.  Remember, you pay nothing unless and until you recover.  Please call us for a free consultation at 303-991-2233.

Remember, is important to keep track of information regarding your case.  You will want to know the date and location of your accident, names and contact information for any party that is negligent, and for any witnesses, any pictures of the scene of the accident or dangerous condition, and any information made available by local law enforcement.  In addition, it is important keep an accurate record of any emergency or other health care providers that you see as a result of an accident.

How do I choose an Auto Insurance Policy?

When it comes to insurance what policy to buy and what types of coverage are offered is very confusing.  With respect to automobiles there are several types of insurance coverage.  Set forth below is a list of the most common types of insurance offered:

Liability Insurance is coverage that provides you with protection if you are at fault for causing an accident or injury.  Your limit of liability coverage is the amount of insurance you have available to you if someone sues you for causing an accident or injuries.

Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist Insurance is coverage that provides you with protection if you are injured by an uninsured driver or a under-insured driver.  Under this coverage your insurance company is required to step into the shoes of the uninsured or under-insured motorist.  This coverage will be offered to you unless you specifically declined it.  It is our recommendation that you accept this type of insurance.  With under-insured motorist coverage you are entitled to collect from your own company for the value of your injuries up to your policy limit. For example, you are hit and injured by a driver with $25,000 worth of insurance and you have $100,000 worth of injuries.  If you had $100,000 in under-insured motorist coverage, you could recover $25,000 form the at fault party and an additional $75,000 from you own carrier.  If you have any questions regarding this coverage, please call.

Property Damage Insurance provides protection for physical damage to you car in the event of an accident even if the accident is your fault.  Whether you should have Property Damage Insurance usually depends on the age and value of your car and if you still owe money on your car.  If your car has very little value, there is little purpose in insuring it.

Comprehensive Insurance provides protection for non-accident related losses such as windshield damage, wind damage, hail damage or other types of natural disasters or road condition related occurrences.

Med-Pay Insurance provides protection for accident related medical expenses for you or passengers riding in your car.  Med-pay is paid without regard to fault in causing the accident and is not subject to any co-pays or deductibles.  This insurance should be strongly considered if you have no health insurance or health insurance with high deductibles and high co-pays.  This insurance also provides coverage to passengers who incur medical bills that may have no other sources of insurance.

Please note that the above list is not a complete list of all types of insurance and each person's situation is different and requires a unique and individual analysis of their insurance needs.  Please call us if you have any questions.
